Men's Soccer Falls in Conference Opener

BUCKHANNON, W. Va. – All five goals scored in Urbana's 3-2 setback to West Virginia Wesleyan came in the second half Thursday night.

UU (0-2-1) tied the game in the 72nd minute when Jasminko Dizdarevic scored his first goal of the season and 16th of his career.

Wesleyan (2-1-0) drew first blood on a goal shortly after halftime by Joshua Tenney and then the junior midfielder followed up with a brace in the 77th minute to put the Bobcats back in front.

The hosts struck again three minutes later as Sinasi Emre Deniz made it 3-1 Bobcats with what proved to be the game winner.

In the final seconds, Jake Wischmeier scored his first goal of the year but time ran out on the Blue Knights' comeback attempt.

Shots on goal were 13-9 in Wesleyan's favor, but Urbana held a 13-4 advantage in corner kicks.

UU keeper Jakob Henriksen racked up a season-high nine saves.

UP NEXT: UU resumes conference action next week when it travels to Frostburg State on Wednesday (6:30 p.m.). The Blue Knights will host West Liberty on the following Saturday (6:30 p.m.).
