URBANA, Ohio - Urbana (7-19, 3-11 MEC) split Saturday's doubleheader against MEC-leading Shepherd (20-10, 11-3 MEC) at Blue Knight Baseball Field. The Blue Knights won the first game 8-7 on a walk-off single and the Rams bounced back to claim the second game, 12-2.
The two teams will resume the series Sunday with two more games in Urbana. The first pitch of Game 1 has been moved up to 11 a.m. ET, due to impending rain in the forecast.

Freshman
Brett Bell delivered a bases-loaded walk-off single in the seventh to lift Urbana past Shepherd 8-7.

UU jumped out to a 6-0 lead after plating four runs in the first and two in the second against SU starter Mitchell Wilson, who entered with a 4-1 record.
Leadoff hitter
Griffin Stevens opened the floodgate with a sharp liner up the middle on the first pitch he saw, and after
Taylor Lane reached by fielder's choice, the Blue Knights rattled off five hits in the bottom of the first.
Chase Carney brought in the first run with an RBI single, and
Tyler Dellerman made it 3-0 with a double off the left-center fence. Soon after, Bell's first hit also produced a run to cap the outburst which stunned the Rams.
Bell, Stevens and Dellerman led the way with two hits as UU outhit the visitors 12-10. Dellerman also played long ball when he hit his second home run of the season, a solo blast in the fifth to put the Blue Knights up 7-4.

However, the Rams climbed back by scoring a run in each of the final five frames, tying the game with two runs in the seventh.Â
Right-hander
Cole Weaver went 5.2 innings in the no-decision, allowing five earned runs on eight hits.
Taylor Lane was credited with the win after closing the game, his first victory as a Blue Knight.
SU's Adam Miller was tagged with the loss, despite 4.1 innings of two-run ball. Catcher Christian Hamel homered in a 2-for-4 effort.

This time it was Shepherd that jumped out early with a 7-1 lead after two frames and that was all it needed with All-MEC pitcher Ryan Potts on the mound. The right-hander improved to 4-2 with eight strikeouts in five innings, allowing one earned run on four hits.
The Blue Knights were outhit 13-4 in the nightcap and fell victim to six errors. Starter
Dylan Whisman took the loss after surrendering five earned runs on seven hits.
Dellerman and
Robbie Guerrero III each notched a double while Carney and
Daniel Quiroz also registered a base knock. UU scored its first run on an RBI groundout from
Briley Harlan in the second inning, and then Carney crossed on Dellerman's two-bagger in the fifth.
Shepherd scored two in each of the third and fifth frames, before adding one more in the sixth. Center fielder Brenton Doyle hit for the cycle with a 4-for-5 outing and four RBI. He singled in the first, homered in the second, tripled in the third and then doubled in his final at-bat in the sixth.
