URBANA, Ohio  -
Urbana dropped both games of Saturday's home baseball opener against the University of Charleston, 10-1 and 3-2.

UU (1-10, 0-2 MEC) returns to Blue Knight Field tomorrow against West Virginia State (3-11, 1-1 MEC).

//  GAME 1
Charleston homered twice in the fifth inning to build a 6-0 lead on its way to a 10-1 victory. The Golden Eagles racked up 12 hits while the Blue Knights totaled six base knocks. UC scored in every inning except the second and fourth frames.

In the sixth, right fielder Taylor Lane produced a two-out RBI single to get the Blue Knights on the board to make the score 7-1. However, the Golden Eagles plated three more in the final inning.

Freshman catcher Tyler Dellerman went 2 for 3 with a double to lead UU at the plate. Junior Robbie Guerrero III also doubled, seven of his 12 hits this season are two-baggers, while redshirt-freshman Griffin Stevens and junior Chase Carney each notched a base hit. Guerrero extended his hitting streak to nine while Carney has hit safely in six straight.

On the mound, Cole Weaver (1-2) was tagged with the loss in five innings of work. The freshman right-hander allowed four earned runs on 10 hits with a pair of strikeouts and two walks. UC's Austin Henrich improved to 2-2 in a complete-game outing.

UU had two errors in the field and stranded six runners on base.

//  GAME 2
UU started off hot with five hits in the first inning, which it used to jump out to a 2-0 lead. However, the Blue Knights only managed one hit against UC starter Brandon Harris the rest of the game.

Freshman Deion Tubbs and Stevens led off the first with back-to-back singles, before Guerrero doubled to left center to make it 1-0. Then, Dellerman singled in the next at-bat to bring Guerrero across for the second run.

In his first start, freshman Dylan Whisman was outstanding on the mound. The left-hander took a no-hitter into the fifth inning before back-to-back hits with two outs scored a run for the Golden Eagles.

UC's Gianfranco Morello led off the sixth with a home run against Whisman to tie the game at 2-2. Then, Lane came on in relief and nearly worked out of a jam, but UC was able to plate the go-ahead run on a sac fly.

UU left a pair of runners on base in the bottom half as Harris closed the door over the final two frames, earning his first win.

The Blue Knights out-hit the Golden Eagles 6-5.
