Women's Soccer Falls at Home to Concord

URBANA, Ohio – The Urbana University women's soccer team fell by a 4-0 score to Concord University in Saturday's intra-Mountain East Conference battle.

Concord (15-1, 11-1 MEC) clinched a first-round bye in the MEC postseason tournament and the MEC South Division regular-season crown with two matches remaining.

Hazel Sanz was stoic in goal for the Blue Knights (6-8-1, 6-6-1 MEC) as she collected 14 saves on the day. The Mountain Lions sent 18 shots on goal out of the 35 total shots they took in the match.

Olivia Medieros got Concord on the board at the 41:49 mark of the first half with shot to the lower left side of the goal.

The momentum carried over early into the second half when Leah Foster connected on a goal to the lower right side of the Urbana goal to give Concord, which added on two goals late in the match, all the insurance it would need.

The shutout marked the 11th match this season that Concord's goalies had put up a clean sheet.

Kristen Dickison's shot attempt in the second half was the loan shot taken by the Blue Knights against one of the best defensive units in all of NCAA Division II women's soccer.

UP NEXT: Urbana will host Glenville State College in a crucial MEC tilt on Wednesday, Nov. 6 with a 4 p.m. kickoff as part of a Senior Day doubleheader with the men's match to follow. Head coach Kevin Mounce and crew will honor Jordin Littles, Kristen Abbott, Kobi Bryant, Alyssa Garberich, and team manager Kandace Sumlin, as each will appear in their final home match as members of the Blue Knights women's soccer team.
