Women's Soccer Falls to Wesleyan, 1-0

URBANA, Ohio – The Urbana University women's soccer team suffered its first loss in three weeks Thursday when it fell 1-0 to West Virginia Wesleyan at UU Stadium.

Despite the setback, UU sits in second place in the MEC North Division and three points behind Frostburg State. The Blue Knights are 5-3-1 in league play and 5-5-1 overall.

Wesleyan (6-5-0, 5-3-0 MEC) outshot Urbana 10-3 and scored the game-winning goal in the fourth minute. Taylor Maucere found the back of the net for her first goal of the season and the Bobcats held on the rest of the way.

UU keeper Hazel Sanz continued her dominant play between the pipes with nine saves. The junior keeper carries an .832 save percentage through 11 matches.

Senior Alyssa Garberich took all three shots on frame for the Blue Knights.

UP NEXT: UU will take nearly a week off to prepare for a road match at Charleston next Wednesday, Oct. 23.
