Blue Knights Cut Down by Bobcats in Doubleheader

URBANA, Ohio - Urbana (8-18, 4-8) suffered a pair of losses against West Virginia Wesleyan Sunday afternoon in a pair of league games, 12-11 and 19-9.

The Blue Knights seemed well on their way to victory in Game 1, but the Bobcats generated a massive comeback with nine runs across the final two frames.

UU led by as much as eight when it held an 11-3 lead. However, WVWC chipped away with four runs in the sixth and five runs in the seventh to pull out the win.

Brent West and Enmanuel Lopez both finished a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with a double. Lopez also knocked in three runs. Tim Feasel had a career day, going 2-for-2 in the opener and an impressive 6-for-7 across both games with four RBI. Nick Gallagher produced four runs in the first game, and along with Tanner Davis, went 2-for-4.

UU scored two in the second, five in the third, and four in the fourth to go up 11-3 after five complete. Unfortunately, the Blue Knights were unable to record outs in the later innings. UU outhit the Bobcats 14-12 in Game 1.

Left hander Brad Hall was charged with the loss. Starter Jackson Everman lasted two outs into the fourth and exited with UU in front 7-3. 

In Game 2, the visitors slugged their way past UU's depleted bullpen with 19 runs on 20 hits. The Bobcats strung together eight runs in the second frame to take the commanding lead.

Aaron Finlay (2-for-5) blasted a three-run homer in the eighth and extended his reached-base streak to 21 games.

Feasel went 4-for-5 in the second game which included his first triple of the season. Other contributors included DJ Collins (3-for-5), West (2-for-3, RBI), Mickey Barea (1-for-2), and freshman Chase Colantino recorded his first collegiate hit.

Dalton Greenwalt struggled to get out of the second inning and was hit for the loss.

Both teams combined for nine errors in the second game.

Urbana has a midweek contest on tap for Wednesday afternoon against Ohio Valley. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. at UU Baseball Field.
