Wrestling great Tom Bemmes ('83) of Cincinnati is Urbana University's 1992 Athletic Hall of Fame inductee.
Bemmes was a two-time District 22 champion at 126 pounds and twice competed in the NAIA National Championships. His career record was a sparkling 68-35-1. As a sophomore he competed in the nationals in Edmond, Oklahoma and then again, advanced as a senior when the meet was held at Minot State in North Dakota. In addition to winning two District titles, he was also runner-up twice. Bemmes was also honored as an NAIA Academic All-America selection.
